OPWILL can provide a cost-effective solution for weak light remediation testing in response to the problem of weak light caused by a large number of fiber optic cable resources in operators.
In 2013, the State Council issued the "Broadband China" Strategy and Implementation Plan, and network operators deployed FTTx/PON networks on a large scale in the following years. At the same time, the average access rate of the national bandwidth reached 50M. However, this brought about a large number of complaints from broadband users and major customers, resulting in poor user perception.
One of the reasons for poor perception among broadband users is the issue of weak light. The causes of weak light can be roughly divided into the following three categories:
Excessive cold joint loss between the fiber distribution box and the client, resulting in weak light
Excessive loss caused by fiber optic cable, resulting in weak light
The ONU terminal equipment was not placed according to specifications, the tail fiber was bent too large, fast insertion, splitter, flange plate and other reasons caused weak light
Nowadays, network operators generally take the following measures to rectify low light:
Source remediation. Require installation and maintenance personnel to pay attention to the curvature of the line as much as possible when installing new broadband, to reduce the occurrence of weak light due to excessive bending of the line.
On site rectification. Starting from the end, identify the cause and carry out targeted rectification based on the cause of weak light. Replace faulty components for weak light caused by flange, splitter failure, and fiber skipping.
Maintenance and rectification. Require installation and maintenance personnel to remind customers of daily precautions after on-site maintenance, in order to reduce low light caused by human factors.
However, the above-mentioned rectification measures are time-consuming and labor-intensive, and rely heavily on the personal experience of maintenance personnel, resulting in poor effectiveness of weak light rectification.
With on-site validated methods and steps, intelligent integrated testing solutions, and cloud based data management capabilities, OPWELL now enables users to conduct low light remediation in a reliable and cost-effective manner.
